Oleg Igoshin received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley (2004) and his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel (2000). His group uses theoretical and computational approaches to study how biochemical networks make decisions and how bacterial communities self-organize.

Jon DeBonis

My research focuses on modeling the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of cancer therapeutics to enable optimal treatment design. In collaboration with the Segatori and Veiseh labs at Rice, I develop models of cytokine treatment that predict human response from in vivo data. I am also building a model of interleukin-12 pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics that captures IL-12 desensitization, for better prediction of long-term therapy.

I am interested in understanding and engineering gene regulation and cellular behavior by integrating synthetic biology, machine learning, and biophysical modeling. Co-advised by Dr. Bashor, I have developed high-throughput experimental and computational approaches to study how genetic sequences regulate gene expression across bacterial species. My current research develops high-throughput imaging platforms and machine-learning models to characterize the temporal dynamics of synthetic genetic circuits, with the goal of engineering programmable gene expression for efficient cellular reprogramming.
